Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

DramaTime is a content discovery app that helps you find trending drama, viral moments, and short-form video content. This policy explains what data we handle, how third-party APIs are used, and how your preferences and activity stay under your control.

1. Introduction

DramaTime ("the App", "we", "our") is a mobile content discovery platform that lets you browse trending drama, celebrity news, pop culture moments, and short-form video content from across the web.

We are committed to your privacy. Your personal preferences, watchlist, view history, voice notes, and profile data are stored locally on your device. We do not create user accounts, and we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers.

2. Information We Process

The App processes the following categories of information, all stored locally on your device:

  • Content preferences: your selected drama categories (Celebrity, Reality TV, Influencer, etc.) and video length preferences.
  • Watchlist: videos you have liked or saved, along with optional voice notes.
  • View history: recently viewed videos for quick access.
  • Search history: your recent search queries.
  • Profile data: your chosen display name and profile photo.
  • App settings: haptic feedback preferences, welcome greeting toggle, onboarding completion status.

None of this data is transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties.

Preferences on-device No user accounts No personal data collection No ad tracking

3. On-Device Storage

All your preferences, watchlist data, voice notes, profile photo, and view history are stored exclusively on your device using UserDefaults and the local file system. No personal data is uploaded to any server or cloud service.

If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed. We cannot recover it because we never had access to it.

4. Third-Party APIs

DramaTime uses the SerpApi service to fetch publicly available video content and trending topics from search engines. When you browse or search for content:

  • Search queries based on your selected categories or manual searches are sent to SerpApi to retrieve video results.
  • These requests contain search terms only — no personal identifiers, device IDs, or user data are included.
  • SerpApi returns publicly indexed video metadata (titles, thumbnails, links, view counts) which is displayed in the app.
  • Video playback occurs through the original source (e.g., YouTube, TikTok) when you tap a video.

We also use the following Apple system frameworks:

  • AVFoundation / Speech: for text-to-speech and speech-to-text voice note features (processed on-device).
  • PhotosUI: for selecting profile photos from your library.
  • StoreKit: for optional App Store rating prompts.
  • WebKit: for in-app video playback.

5. Device Permissions

DramaTime may request the following device permissions:

  • Camera: to take a profile photo. Photos are saved locally and never uploaded.
  • Photo Library: to choose a profile photo from your gallery.
  • Microphone: to record voice notes on your watchlist items using speech-to-text.
  • Speech Recognition: to transcribe your spoken voice notes into text.

All permissions are optional. Denying a permission disables only the related feature. You can change permissions at any time in your device's Settings.

6. Voice Features

DramaTime includes text-to-speech (TTS) and speech-to-text (STT) features:

  • Welcome greeting: the app speaks a personalized greeting using your display name. This uses Apple's on-device speech synthesis — no audio is transmitted.
  • Voice notes: you can dictate notes on watchlist items. Speech recognition is performed using Apple's Speech framework. Transcribed text is stored locally on your device.
  • Note playback: saved notes can be read aloud using on-device text-to-speech.

Apple may process speech recognition requests on-device or via Apple servers depending on your device and iOS version. DramaTime does not control Apple's speech processing pipeline. No voice data is sent to DramaTime servers.

7. Your Choices

You have full control over your data:

  • Clear view history: remove all recently viewed videos from Settings.
  • Clear search history: remove all recent searches from the Search tab.
  • Delete watchlist: remove individual saved videos by swiping, or clear all data from Settings.
  • Remove profile photo: delete your profile photo from the Profile tab.
  • Clear all data: use the "Clear All Data" option in Settings to permanently erase everything and restart onboarding.
  • Revoke permissions: disable camera, microphone, or speech recognition from your device's Settings at any time.
  • Uninstall: deleting the app removes all data permanently.

8. Children's Privacy

DramaTime is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Content displayed in the app is sourced from public search results and may not be suitable for all ages.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in app features or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date. Our commitment to keeping your personal data on your device will not change.
